A nice little package of a backstory to the Deadland chronicles. It was nice to read about a child Alice and of her family before she became the teen Biter hunter and eventually the undead leader of the resistance. Even though this installment was a little too short for my taste, I still rate it 5 stars for the wonderful writing that Mr. Dhar gives us. The characters, the story, and the development carry us forward with anticipation just like his other books do.Product details

These are the stories of a very young Alice growing up in the Deadlands. They show her spirit and spunk well. They also really let the redaer in on what it was like growing up after the Rising. The last tale ends where the first book begins - with Alice following a Biter wearing bunny ears down a hole...
I picked this up on a free day and with piles of books to read before this one, it took months to get to it, which was today and read 20% of it on my one hour lunch break and the rest this evening. I couldn't stop, wasn't going to stop until I finished it. I really enjoyed this. Such a great writer, and his team is excellent as well. Five well deserved stars...
This is a great addition to the series. This acts as a direct prequel to the first book. You get the chance to find out about Alice`s life in the Deadland before she fell down the biter hole. It does jump to different points in her life, and it tells some really good stories. Every book in this series gives the world a deeper feel. I really enjoy this series.
Untold Stories takes us back to Alice's childhood to see what she went through as she learned to survive in the Deadland. With stories including the innocence of the child mind, learning what love is, and how to deal with death, Mainak Dhar shows us exactly what brought Alice to be the leader we know and love. If you've read Alice in Deadland, you don't want to pass this one up.
This was listed as a series for young adults. As far as the calendar is concerned, I'm not very young. However, considering how much I enjoyed Maiak's series on Alice, I must be quite young at heart. A very good and entertaining read.
Usually I give a book at least 100 pages, but I didn't like this from the start. I'm a mother and grandmother and when I child is involved in such a fashion it just isn't something I want to read. I think I'm getting zombied out unless they are in a better context....but too many books lately with hoards of attacking zombies....I'm over it. I'm more into the zombies that AJ Aalto writes about....those who were humans you knew before they became zombies, with pieces falling off them as they go. A little levity please! I did not even bother reading the first 100 pages and went on to a new book. Hate giving a bad review, but this just so wasn't my thing.
Mainak Dhar's Alice in Deadland series is an ingenious and well crafted spin on Resident Evil, who's lead character's name also happens to be Alice, but we can forgive that. It is still an incredible read, each and every instalment. And this one is no different, it neatly ties up all those pesky loose ends, love it. There are some, I read that are critical of Dhara's writing. Please, this is not War and Peace,or Lord of the Rings, (which I also love) it is what it is, a fun and simplistic read, in a fast food sort of way. You all need to get over your purist pompous selves. As Shakspere would say about all these no talent wana be,s "Me thinks thou doth protest to much". My, my, all this jealous huffing and puffing, whilst Mainak goes laughing merrily all the way to the bank! poor clueless fools.
